Jonny Sunshine

Jonny has been living and breathing music since his teens in the 80’s and was fortunate enough to find himself working the seasons in Ibiza in 1987/88. This was the birth of the Balearic sound and spending countless nights dancing underneath the stars at clubs like Amnesia embracing hedonism. Then with the idyllic sunsets which are a major part of Ibiza's makeup he was further inspired by his friend Jose Padilla from Café del Mar and the way that he would compose his DJ sets to work with the sunset. So from those early beginnings he started to collect lots of genre’s of music , many fitting the Balearic sound which is not a genre but more a collection of music across many genres all conjuring up a happy , lush feeling.

Having had the opportunity to own his club in Koh Phangan in the early 90's many more musical moments were played In front of a hedonistic crowd on a paradise beach. The Himalayas also played a part in Jonny’s musical history whilst he took the set up of a community radio to Manali playing many genres of music for the travelling community. Whilst living in Ibiza for the past 23 yrs he continues to be inspired by the Balearic sound of music from across the world.

"I love the ability to one minute play a house track, and next a classical piece followed by a funk track, this eclectic assortment of music to move people is Joy to share, a journey into sound."

From his early sets at Kimberley as Ambient Jonny and now Jonny Sunshine, he has been a part of the tribe for over 25yrs and has loved the experience each year of playing to such a diverse open minded crowd.

"Music Speaks what words cannot be expressed, soothes the mind and gives it rest , heals the heart and makes it whole, flows from heaven to the soul "

He is also the founder of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Foundation which is supporting children in crisis across the world , helping the dance music community make a difference.
