Phil Nicholas

At the forefront of synthetic music technology from the early 80s, Phil worked with Peter Gabriel's "Syco", introducing the Fairlight CMI (early sampler) to leading artists. He went on to work with "super Producer" Mutt Lange for 10 years playing keyboards, and programming, on some of his most famous tracks. He wrote and produced Pete Tong's chart no. 1, "Cry Freedom" by Mombassa, and composed 14 albums for Universal Production Music.

Over the past 15 years Phil has built a strong connection with the music of the Garifuna Collective. He has performed with the Collective and "Aurelio" in Belize and the UK (including at WOMAD). Phil's remixes of Garifuna tracks are published by StoneTree Records ("Garifuna Remixed" 2017). Phil has played and presented at Youth’s creative lab, "Space Mountain", and mixed and performed music for the "Dancing Fountain" at GIVE! and a number of other festivals and events.

As a DJ Phil brings a deep understanding of grooves from other places, onto the dance floor.
