Started DJing in 1984, joining Brighton’s King Tafari Love sound system and Radio Falmer in 1985. In 1989 joined Manasseh, a London sound system built in 1985 by school friends Nick Raphael (AKA Nick Manasseh), Bill Tuckey and Ed Maiden. Over the years, Manasseh featured regularly at Notting Hill Carnival, and played many big dances including sound clashes with Jah Shaka, Fatman, Jah Warrior, Volcano, Aba Shanti I, Jah Observer and Jah Tubbys.
Regularly presented Manasseh's Kiss FM radio show, a reggae institution which occupied the late Saturday night slot for 12 years from 1987-1999, and then lucky enough to DJ alongside Dennis Brown, Frankie Paul, Ziggy Marley, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Burning Spear, Matisyahu, Little Roy, Easy Star All-Stars, Sugar Minott, Dennis Bovell, Earl Sixteen, Macka B, The Twinkle Brothers, U-Roy, The Original Wailers, Aswad, Lee Perry, Horace Andy, Johnny Osbourne and David Rodigan.
